Dehydration

Dehydration is defined as the loss of the body water of fluids. The first sign of dehydration is thirst and can easily be relieved b drinking. If the water lost is not replenished within a few days, severe dehydration develops, a condition that requires immediate medical attention.

Patient Advice
• Drink plenty of fluids in warm weather; before, during, or after strenuous exercise; or if you have diarrhea. Do not take alcoholic beverage.
• Take oral rehydration salts (ORS).
• Go to the emergency room of the nearest hospital if someone who is dehydrated show signs of shock.
